Aunt Mary’s Visit

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

Picture_066 While Michael is off on his business trip to Japan, my Aunt Mary has come to help out with Callum. She’s discovered he’s quite a handful — and also a sweet beautiful boy (if I say so myself…). Anyway, here’s a pic of Aunt Mary with the little one.

Oh, one quick update on Callum. We went to the doctor’s office yesterday and he now weighs 7 lbs, 4 oz, which means he’s gained to his birthweight and a little more, so he seems to be thriving. We’re so proud of him.

Family Resemblance?

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

People have asked who Callum looks like — his mother or his father. We tend to think he looks a little like each of us, but Uncle Ronnie has pronounced that he looks like a Caird. We unearthed a couple of photos of Michael as a baby so we could compare. (Pamela’s baby pictures remain un-unearthed in our just-moved-in mess.)

A few multimedia files so you can see Callum in action. These videos are from his first few minutes out of the womb.

Also, wanted to share a really lovely phone message we got from sister-in-law Marion Caird — the wife of Michael’s eldest brother, Jim. Click here to listen. We’ve been getting some heartwarming messages of congratulations, but Marion’s was especially sweet — and since we could share the sound of her voice, we thought we would. Many thanks to all who have sent their greetings and welcomes to little Callum.

Went to the hospital yesterday

Saturday, July 9th, 2005

Went to the hospital yesterday for my usual non stress test and ultrasound and the doctor elected to induce labor. So we are in the hospital after a night of medication, almost ready to start the pitocin. Here we go!

Baby Update, or Lack Thereof

Thursday, July 7th, 2005

Just a quickie to say we’re 3 days from the due date and there’s no sign of the little one yet — well, except the “signs” of swelling feet, itchiness, kicking, etc. that I’ve been experiencing for a while. I’ve been working from home, so I can be on the same side of the Bay Bridge as the hospital. Feeling fine.

Making Lemonade

Lemonade

This weekend, we harvested some lemons from our lemon tree in the back yard. The top photo is of our award-winning giant lemon. Well, it would have been, if we had entered it into the local giant lemon contest, if one exists. That one lemon produced 12 gallons of delicious lemonade, some of which we can be seen drinking (with Erin, who offered lemonade-making assistance) in the picture at bottom. Mmm…
