Streamline

Clean-up
Originally uploaded by Pamela PC.

In the hustle and bustle that is our life, especially Mon-Fri, dad here is always looking to cut corners in the work load, or as I like to say, ’streamline’.
As Pamela was busy doing something that required me to be in charge of Callum, and I needed to be getting on with the washing and drying of the laundry, I thought I would show the boy the skills a man needs in these modern days of family life.
Oor wee boy is getting ever so mobile of late, so secure anti-roll, anti-fall-off locations these days are few and far between.
Well, as you can see, he fits perfect.
Then I really went into ’streamline’ mode.
Pop the lad in with the next wash, freeing me up to get the dinner on the go, and at the same time, canceling out the job of bath time before bed, double ’streamline’ bonus!!
I’m going to forward this proposal to the co-president (mum) of Caird Family this week, trials have yet to begin, which I better get moving on. He won’t fit soon!

Hiking with the Kelty Baby Carrier
Originally uploaded by Pamela PC.

We picked up a Kelty baby carrier last weekend at a resale shop for just $15. And this weekend we got our first chance to try it out, on the Sequoia Bayview trail in Joaquin Miller Park. My pal Mia introduced me to it the other day. It’s gorgeous, with (you guessed it) views over San Francisco Bay.

Here’s the boy all suited up and ready to play… as soon as he can walk, of course. Thanks to Uncle Ian and Aunt Angela for sending along this wonderful Christmas gift. He loves it. (And Dad does, too.)

Callum’s Cuteness

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

Interesting story in the NYTimes about “cuteness” and its biological underpinnings. We found out last weekend that Callum was born on the same day as the panda cub (Tai Shan) mentioned in this piece. Callum was ahead in growth rate for a while, but the panda has now overtaken him. At last measurement, Callum was a little over 17 lbs, while Tai Shan has hit 25.
